Hi there, I’m Sheridan! It’s such an honour to connect with you. I honour you and the time that you’re investing within your healing and growth journey!

Do you ever find yourself overwhelmed, exhausted, weighed down, alone, or like there’s no hope for change?

Do you ever doubt your capacity to achieve your goals?

Do you ever feel empty inside, or so cluttered with thoughts that it’s difficult to function?

Do you feel like your life functioning or quality of relationships with others is slipping away from you?

Do you ever feel so disconnected that it’s difficult to imagine being loved, belonging, mattering, or making a difference?

Do you struggle with self-criticism or unhelpful behaviours within your relationship with your self?

I have a passion for providing a safe, non-judgmental, affirming, and encouraging space for you to explore the scary and dark thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and beliefs that have you feeling trapped, stuck, or disconnected.

I work with clients who are struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, ADHD, life transitions, insecure attachment, meaning/purpose, and grief.

I help clients on their journey to gain insight, self-compassion, and connection with themselves and others. I seek to help clients feel lighter, more grounded, and more in charge of their lives. I seek to help clients find more self-acceptance and clarity on who they are and what they want out of life. I seek to help clients feel more connected and more certain of their belonging.

If you want to feel more grounded, self-compassionate/accepting, connected, open, light, and aligned in your life, I would love to work with you!

I come with my personal life experience, my education and trainings, my interest, my compassion, and my great passion to partner with you as you start this journey!

What its like to work with me

From a young age, I found myself naturally drawn to listening and supporting those around me. I’ve been called an Old Soul since day one, yet I also come to you with excitement and energy for who you are and our work together!

I consider it an incredible honour to be trusted with your story, struggles, and pain—and to create a safe, affirming space where healing can begin. Being a counsellor isn’t just my profession; it’s my passion to be able to walk alongside you on your unique path toward growth and wellbeing.

As your counsellor, I am committed to building a therapeutic relationship that feels safe, genuine, and affirming. This means that you will be met with warmth, respect, and non-judgment as you explore your feelings, beliefs, challenges, and goals. Together, we’ll foster a sense of emotional balance, nurture your capacity for connection to yourself and others, foster greater self-acceptance, and ultimately, unlock your inner capacity to heal, grow, and thrive.

I believe that healing is possible when we create a safe environment and compassionately observe and reconstruct/process outdated ways of being. I believe that growth should feel embodied; that it’s often not enough to think helpful thoughts, but to feel that they are more and more true with each passing day. I believe that healing doesn’t leave us isolated, but ultimately connects us to ourselves, our loved ones, our communities, the world around us, and our place within life itself.

  • I believe that every person is inherently worthy of dignity, inclusion, and belonging. We are complex beings shaped by our childhood relationships and experiences, our current circumstances, and the broader systems that influence our lives. We can all get stuck in beliefs and patterns of relating to ourselves and others that no longer serve us. I also believe humans have an innate tendency toward healing and growth if we can simply remove the blocks to that natural process.

I use Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) as my main method of working with clients. This means that I view your experiences within therapy as important to your healing. We work in a way that is engaging and immersive to help shift emotional blocks and outdated ways of existing in your life. We will seek to reprocess your memories and shift your pathways of processing from surviving to thriving! Together we will seek to facilitate healing from core interpersonal and intrapersonal wounds, creating more freedom and compassion in your relationship with your self and others in your world.

I also integrate techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) that allow us to reconstruct outdated ways of being and build skills to help you feel more present and fulfilled in your life.

I work within these models in a way that is client-centred, strengths-based, and trauma-informed. This means that I prioritize you, learn from you as the expert on your life, tailor my approach to best suit your needs, remain attuned to how trauma can present and impact your experience, and celebrate your strengths, solutions, values, and ultimately, your inherent worth.

A little more about me…

When I’m not counselling, I’m typically enjoying activities such as going to the gym, attending a yoga class, meditating, journalling, reading a book on psychology/ counselling, spending time in nature, listening to an audiobook when out on a walk, or doing a cold plunge! These activities help me to continue to evolve, as well as remain self-compassionate/connected and grounded—values that I seek to bring into every session.

I became a counsellor because I had a passion for mental health in myself and others! I enjoyed listening to others in a way that allowed them to feel more self-accepting and affirmed - things that have been life changing for my own healing journey. I’m passionate about our inherent worth and celebrating our unique and beautiful ways of being in the world!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • I’m all for self-help and utilizing technology for healing and self-actualization! However, counselling plays a crucial role in healing because our nervous systems have the opportunity to co-regulate with another human being. We are social creatures with years of biological wiring that require social safety to heal; this means healing can begin when we feel seen, understood, safe, cared for, and that we matter to another human being. Often times, our pains are rooted in an interpersonal context and therefore, our healing must also be rooted within an interpersonal context. As an example, our mirror neurons allow for the synching of neurobiological processes; this is why heart rates and breath patterns can shift depending on the human you are physically present with! So, while I myself engage in solo self-care and healing practices, I too seek out healing opportunities with my own therapist, supervisor, or trusted loved ones and communities.

  • Great question, one that I myself have been frustrated by! One way to make sense of this phenomenon is that we have different brain regions that operate to either keep us safe or allow us to thrive. While we can have all the helpful thoughts in the world within our prefrontal cortex, our amygdala and limbic system can ultimately highjack our brain/body when we sense a threat. Our limbic system doesn’t care so much about our logical and rational thoughts, and instead, uses emotion to help us act quickly to keep us safe! Theproblem is, in our modern age, our limbic system is often overworking to keep us safe when the actual physical threat is often quite minimal. Therefore, healing comes from reprocessing emotions on a deeper level, repairing stimuli with a sense of calm, and ultimately, increasing your self-trust to provide self-support and to co-regulate with others!
